Jean-Michel Glachant

Professor Jean-Michel Glachant is head of the Network Industries Team at ADIS Research Center. He is tenured professor (specialization in Industrial and Institutional Economics) and Head of the Economics Department at University Paris XI.
He has an eleven years experience in studying competitive electricity reforms. His main competences in the electricity sector are: European markets liberalisation, regulation of networks, indicators of activities and performances, companies’ behaviours and strategies, comparative analysis of competitive reforms.
He is former Director and Deputy Director of ATOM (Analysis and Theories of Organizations and Markets) Research Centre at La Sorbonne University, Paris (1990-2000). He holds a PhD in Economics from La Sorbonne University. Professor Glachant is a founder and Member of the Board of the International Society for New Institutional Economics (ISNIE) and member of the Faculty of the European School in New Institutional Economics(ESNIE).
He is currently working with the French energy regulator (CRE), and has been a member of its "Economic Advisory Committee" since 2001-2002. Over the five last years, he has directed eight electricity research projects (including European Commission DG TREN, French Prime Minister Think-tank ‘Commissariat Général du Plan’, French Ministry of Industry). He is currently coordinator of the EU research Project "Sustainable Energy Support Assessment" (www.sessa.eu.com) and he is "Electricity Coordinator" EU Integrated Research Project Reflexive Governance (2005-2009). Professor Glachant is also partner of the CMI Electricity Research Project (Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) & University of Cambridge (UK)) and member of the Advisory Committee for R&D at French Electrical Engineering School (SUPELEC)
